“Social work is a band aid on the wounds of society.”

With this in mind, Vedike works tirelessly towards social development by targeting various fields and improving them.

Vedike is a platform that promotes various social activities such as awarding scholarships for economically weaker students, recognizing the contributions of achievers, facilitating marriages between eligible boys and girls, providing hostel facilities to female students, conducting regular health check-ups and medical camps for the rural community.

Conducting training programmes for aspirants of Civil services, Bank & Public Sector etc. is a major activity of Vedike. Vedike also recognizes meritorious and talented students and felicitates them along with their parents.

Apart from these activities, Vedike organizes “Sneha Sangama” – an event where the families of Vedike members can interact and bond with each other.

The flagship event of Vedike is “Mukha-Mukhi” – a platform where eligible boys and girls who have registered with Vedike in search of their partners for marriage, get an opportunity to meet each other face to face.

History

Samaja Samparka Vedike was started in 1988 with the blessings & patronage of Parama Poojya Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Dr|| Balagangadharanatha Swamiji of Adichunchanagiri Mutt. The initiative to promote and organize SSV was taken by Sri B L Lakkegowda (who had served under the Government of Karnataka as a KAS Officer). He had the vision of developing the community and helping the poorer sections of society through Vedike. He wanted to create a platform for like-minded people who can give back to the community. This idea was backed by many generous and selfless people.

B S Hanuma (IAS), K S Ramegowda (Director of Town Planning), Sri Krishnegowda T R (former Chief Engineer at NGF), C S Mallaiah (IAS), M Tammanna (KAS) are few of people known for backing this initiative and putting in efforts to bring Vedike to the stage it is at today.
